General Intervention of Social Security

Functions

  1. Internal control, through the exercise of the intervening function and financial control actions in accordance with the provisions of Royal Decree 706/1997, of 16 May, which develops the internal control regime exercised by the General Intervention of Social Security.
  2. The Directorate of Public Accounting in the Field of Social Security, in accordance with the provisions of article 151 of the consolidated text of the General Budget Law, approved by Royal Legislative Decree 1091/1988, of 23 September, according to the wording given to it by article 74 of Law 13/1996, of 30 December, without prejudice to the competences in accounting matters attributed to the General Intervention of the State Administration, and the accounting management of the Managing Entities and Common Services of Social Security, in accordance with the provisions of this Royal Decree.
  3. The advice of the management bodies derived from their control functions.
  4. The General Social Security Intervention, as the chief of all the Delegated Interventions in the Managing Entities and Common Services of Social Security, will coordinate them, giving them the precise instructions for the development of their functions that they deem appropriate and resolving the consultations that may be formulated by them.
  5. Participation with voice and vote in the collegiate bodies in which, according to current regulations, it must have representation.
  6. To inform the rules governing the preparation of the Social Security Budget and to be dictated by the management and guardianship bodies of the different entities that make up the Social Security Budget.
  7. Send quarterly information on the execution of the budgets of the entities that make up the Social Security system to the Congressional and Senate Budget Committees.
  8. The exercise of any other functions and competences ascribed to it by the current regulations.
