Living Abroad

The functions of support and care for those living abroad are entrusted to the General Directorate of Spanish Citizenship Abroad and Return Policies and are materialized in a series of economic benefits and assistance, as well as subsidy programs to contribute to the support of associations and the reception and protection of elderly and dependent persons.

In addition, from the Spanish Office of Return, the citizen is provided with general information on the return process and is directed to the body of the Administration competent in the procedure or subject matter of consultation.

The General Directorate also assumes the duties of Secretariat of the General Council of Spanish Citizenship Abroad, an advisory body that represents Spaniards living abroad.
