The Ministry of Inclusion promotes the communication of people with disabilities through support for the company Irisbond

The Social Impact Fund (FIS), attached to the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migrations and managed by Cofides, has granted a loan of 1.2 million euros to support the growth of Irisbond, a company specialized in the development of assisted communication technologies for people with severe neuromotor diseases. With the incorporation of new devices financed by the autonomous communities, the company intends to exceed 2,000 active users by the end of 2027.
Technology at the service of people
After the signing of the operation, which has taken place at the headquarters of the ministry, Dulce F., a teenager with cerebral palsy who uses this technology to express herself since she was six years old, has shown how assisted communication works and how her quality of life has improved. Thanks to these interactive devices, Dulce can chat with her friends, study and participate in class.
“It is the best example of technology at the service of people, since the devices allow minors to attend school and adults to communicate and even work. In addition, it guarantees the right of all people to express themselves and to have their own voice,” says Elena Rodríguez, Secretary General of Inclusion. “This operation also reaffirms the commitment of the FIS to people with disabilities, following support for UNEI or Fundación Valentia.”
Angela Pérez, President and CEO of Cofides, said that “the development of technological solutions such as those of Irisbond contributes to improve the quality of life of people with disabilities and to move towards a more inclusive society.” In addition, he stressed that “through the Social Impact Fund, Cofides supports projects that combine innovation, sustainability and social impact, promoting equitable access to essential services.”
“As referents in the sector, it is a pride to provide this technology and, above all, our comprehensive care service to patients of the Madrid Health Service (SERMAS),” said Eduardo Jáuregui, founder of Irisbond. “We will work closely with medical professionals, patients and caregivers to further promote anyone’s right to communication. What we do has social impact on many levels and we are proud of it”, he added.
A fund financed by the PRTR
The FIS is a fund created by the Government through the addendum of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR) and has resources of the NextGenerationEU instrument.
This public financial resource is endowed with 400 million euros to strengthen the ecosystem of impact through support to investment projects that generate a positive social and/or environmental impact.
